Jig-Worming Cold Water Bass

One of the hottest tactics on the pro bass trail is working deep structure with jigworms, sometimes called shaky-head worming. Once it gets cold, largemouths favor steep rocky banks along the main body of the reservoir. A straight-tail worm or curlytail model on a jighead allows you to probe all depths and keep the lure in the strike zone indefinitely, if that's what fish want. Cast the jig worm near the bank and gradually hop it out into deeper water, pausing the lure when it falls onto a shelf. Bites often are very light, so watch your line carefully and be ready to set the hook.
