Card Earns Rookie Top Prize

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Brandon Card set his sights on one goal at the beginning of the year, and this past weekend made that goal a reality – win the Bassmaster Elite Series Rookie of the Year title. The Berkley® pro angler completed this objective by finishing in 59th place overall at the Ramada Championship that took place on Oneida Lake, N. Y.

"This has been my goal all along going through the season," said Card. "When you set a goal there is no reason to lose focus, and although I had a few finishes I wish I could change it all worked itself out in the end. Everyone was great on the tour, and I look forward to my sophomore year with the Elites. "

Card outlasted nine other rookies by amassing 480 points over the eight tournaments this regular season.

"I've had a blast this year," said 26-year old Card. "I only wish I would have finished stronger. My next goal is to continue down this path until I retire. This is my dream, and I'll ride this as long as I can."

Card also has B.A.S.S. Federation Nation experience. He competed for Kentucky, qualifying in 2009 and 2010 for what is now the Cabela's B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Championship.

In 2011, Card joined the Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Southern Open circuit. His goal was to qualify through the Open for the Elite Series. He made it in one season. He was second in points, well above the Top 5 automatic-in cutline.

The Rookie of the Year annually goes to the BASS Elite Series rookie who has the highest year-end point total in the standings at the conclusion of the regular season.
