Lane Carries The Day At Kentucky Lake

Berkley pro Bobby Lane led wire–to–wire to claim his first BASS victory. The Lakeland, Fla., native weighed in 97–pounds, 9–ounces of fish during the four–day event at Kentucky Lake. The 2008 BASS Rookie of the Year cashed a $100,000 check for win. Lane utilized the Berkley PowerBait Mullet and 10–inch Power Worm, fishing ledges with a shell bottom. For his line choice, Lane spooled up Berkley Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon that created an almost invisible presentation to line–shy fish.   "It's about time," said Lane. "I couldn't have won this event without using the Powerbait Saltwater Mullet and the 10" Power Worm in Plum color on ledges. I made longer casts so my bait would stay in the strike zone longer. I really think patience was key to every bite I had."Surrounded by nearly 100 onlookers on the final day and boat trouble early in the tournament, Lane proved consistent throughout the event; beating Kevin VanDam. Lane was not the only Berkley pro enjoying the Kentucky Lake atmosphere; Skeet Reese (4th), Kelly Jordon (8th) and Byron Velvick finished tenth. Look for the Berkley pros to make some waves at the next Elite Series event is set for June 11–14 on the Mississippi River in Ft. Madison, Iowa.
