Reese And Roy Seize Lead In Angler Of The Year And Rookie Of The Year Standings

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Skeet Reese is no stranger to leading the way for Angler of the Year, having won the coveted award in 2007. Newcomer Bradley Roy is paving the same path in the Rookie of the Year race. The two Berkley and Abu Garcia pro anglers claimed the top spots in the Angler of the Year and Rookie of the Year races by finishing strong this past weekend on California's Clear Lake.

Skeet Reese made an outstanding showing in California by finishing second at the "Duel in the Delta" and fifth at the "Golden State Shootout" on Clear Lake. Cruising through his home state, Reese looks forward to the upcoming Smith Mountain BASS Elite Event and the remainder of the season.

"The 2010 season has started off great," said Reese. "The upcoming tournaments are going to be a bit more difficult, but I'm always up for a challenge. It is a battle at every tournament because each of these guys in the field can fish so well. They really keep you on your toes and there is no room for a let down."

Not to be outdone, the youngest angler in the field has started to raise a few eyebrows on the BASS Elite Series. Bradley Roy, at just 19 years old, took over the top spot in the Rookie of the Year race by finishing in 8th place at Clear Lake – not bad considering he is the youngest angler to ever fish the Elite Series and never fished in California.

"It has been a great start to the season," said Roy. "I started slow on the Delta with a 50th place finish, but I really felt confident coming into Clear Lake. I have received a great deal of support from my fellow anglers, family and especially my sponsors, which make it possible for me to compete at the highest level"

The next stop for Bassmaster Elite Series anglers is the Blue Ridge Brawl, set for April 15-18 on Virginia's Smith Mountain Lake.
