Columbia, S.C. – Skeet Reese caught more than 100-pounds of bass to claim his second BASS victory of the year. With the win, the Berkley pro took home the tournament trophy and $100,000 during the BASS tournament on Lake Guntersville. Reese began day four behind Davy Hite, but that all changed when Reese bagged 25 pounds, 15 ounces on the final day. During the four-day event, Reese totaled 100 pounds, 13 ounces.
“Sometimes things simply go your way,” said Reese. “I’ve been extremely focused out there, and I keep swinging for the fences. My weights began to drop off a bit, but I knew I would be able to catch them on the final day. Winning never gets old. I am fortunate to have great sponsors that keep me in the game with the best gear out there.”
The Auburn, Calif., native was trailing by nearly 5 pounds heading into Sunday, but was able to stay on fish to cruise to another victory. Reese used 15-pound Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon spooled on an Abu Garcia Revo Skeet Reese model.
Reese commented on the importance of 100% Fluorocarbon line stating, “These fish needed to have a subtle approach, which is where Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon came into play. The nearly invisible qualities and toughness of the line paid off in a big way. It really is the only line I could rely on to bring this victory home.”
This marks the sixth Elite Series title since the Auburn, Calif., native began fishing the pro circuit. Reese also padded a healthy lead in the Angler of the Year race, amassing 1485 points. He leads Edwin Evers by 258 points going into the next Elite Series event on Clarks Hill Lake, which begins May 20th through May 23rd.
