Rated 5 out of 5 by Troutster Flyfishing from Big Browns, Lakers and Casting Crab Traps I bought this rod because I wanted to mix up my fishing videos with some trolling for giant trout in Idaho. I"m aware this isn't a trolling rod per se, but it's cheap. It's been a while since I bought spinning and baitcasting gear, but I spent 15 years selling it at sporting goods stores. Currently I am a fly fishing guide and run a fly fishing youtube channel and website. I know a good deal when I see it, and this rod is a good deal for its cost. I also plan to use it casting out crab traps on the Oregon coast in August. I bought a big Abu garcia baitcaster to top this rod off and I'm sure I can land any trout I hook. If you want to see this rod in action I'll be posting my lake fishing videos soon on my youtube channel!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Pete Redcliff from Best rod for the buck. I have a number of cat rods from Rippin lips, Ugly Stik, American Spirit etc. and the Big Game rods are right there with them, and for the cost savings they take the lead. If Berkley were to add more guides and go with say a 7'6" MH 1 piece with 8 guides and a slimmed down handle in a "Pro Series" Big game I feel they would have the best rod for catfish. But I feel many would buy a 1 pc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dcromer from Great Catfish Rod I purchased the 7'6" medium action 2 piece. This rod is perfect for channel catfish and smaller blues. The tip is soft and the rod loads up well. It casts 2-3 ounce sinkers very well. The rod has plenty of backbone for fish up to 18-20 lbs. It's hard to find a 7'6" rod at a this price. Thank you Berkley for making this rod. I will be purchasing more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tyrano from TROLLING ACTION I bought a 6'6 medium heavy to troll the colorodo river south of the hoover dam. I throw 20-45 pound stripers on board. Laced with an ABU GARCIA AMBASSADER 6000 conventional reel, this pole has action.

Rated 5 out of 5 by John K from Great Channel Cat Rod! I have a number of other cat rods from Ugly Stik to Rippin lips and the Big Game have the best action for circle hooks for channels. And for the price, the Big Game rods blow them away. I really wish Berkley would make the casting model in an 8' MH to handle flatheads and blues as the medium is a little soft for anything over 25# in current.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jeter from perfect cat rod i have 3 of these rods, 2 spinning and one casting, and have nothing but good things to say. I have caught a few good cats on the spinning rod. I have also caught a few hard snags at a few rivers and dams and tugged hard and the pole holds up very well. only down side is the bottom of the handle is big, but when you hook into a big cat it help because it doesn't dig into you as bad.
