Rated 5 out of 5 by JoeyG from River Fishing I enjoy catfishing at night... I bought one of these rods 8' last year for my nephew to use. Everything about this rod and its capabilities is excellent. With the batteries it has a blue glow, but, if you let it soak up some sun or expose it to a light source for a little bit you have a full stick that glows all night and I mean all night. I see that some of the reviews say it dosent glow blue all the way to the tip when just using the batteries. WHO cares... You can see the complete rod from a distance. If you need a bell or an electronic bite alert to announce that you have a fish hooked then get one. I just bought 2 more, another 8' and a 9' Please keep these rods around...

Rated 1 out of 5 by Cdnred from Poor Quality I bought 2 of these rods for myself and my wife to do some night fishing. I had to buy them and try them at home since they had no batteries in the store to demonstrate the light features. Bought new batteries to try it at home. First rod had about 3 inches of light at the first ferrule and about 3 inches of light of the joint for the 2 piece rod. Second rod had about the same light features as the first plus it wouldn't turn off. The end of both rods were completely not visible in the dark. I found both of these rods lacking in quality and use. What good is a "Glow Rod" if it barely lights up..!! Glow rods are a great feature for night fishing but these rods are WORTHLESS..!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by StriperMemories from Tips are easily broken I bought four of the 8' Medium Heavy casting rods for Striper fishing. They work great for trolling with Umbrella Rigs. The problem is when you use them with releases. First, the tip broke about six inches from the end of the rod when I was attaching the line to a release. I ordered a replacement rod. It happened again in the same area of the rod. I filled out the warranty paperwork and sent Berkley both rods. Replacement rods have never arrived and I have not heard a work from Berkley. I noticed that the 8 foot rods are no longer on the website. All five rods were purchased directly from the Berkley website!

Rated 5 out of 5 by ztmdodge from Great Rod! I have 3 of the 10ft casting rods and I use them for flathead fishing. I use large baitcasting reels with a clicker so there is no real use to me to light up the rods. So I have never even put batteries in to light it but with just a small amount of light they glow extremely well even without battery power. I use a small boat to row out my baits and I can see the rods glowing from 100yds out at night and that's without the batteries. I have landed 30/40lb flatheads extremely easily.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Bouy41 from 8' spinning glowstik I ordered my 8' glow stik last year and have used it several dozen times and have not had any trouble with the lights. I even forgot to take them out over winter and I was affairs I'd find it corroded this year when I pulled it out of storage. To my surprise, not a bit of moisture got into the battery compartment and have fished 3 nights with the same batteries as last year. My only suggestion on how to improve it is to figure some sort of electrical connection so berkley could add another light in the upper section near the tip. I plan on ordering a 10 footer next.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MnCatMan from Awesome Catfish Rod! I bought the 8' casting model to put my Abu 6500 on. Beautiful! With 20lb mono, and a 3oz weight, it casts awesome. Haven't caught any fish yet on it, but feels like an awesome rod, and I have not doubts. The handle is quite a bit thicker than my other rods, but not bad enough to take off a star. Can't say anything about the led light, because I haven't used that feature.Would definitely recommend this rod if you're using a 6500 or 7000 size Abu reel or something similar.
