Rated 5 out of 5 by Glow Worm from Precision Trolling / Berkley Line Counters I was unable to caliberate two recently purchased line counter reels. I marked out 100 feet and took line off or put line on the reels but the reel counters were inconsistant in measuring out 100 feet of line. I purchased two Berkley Line Counters and installed them on my trolling rods. I clipped the line to a release on a stake and zeroed the counter and walked off 100 feet in my yard. The berkley line counters read exactly 100 feet! I now have confidence that my crankbaits are being precision trolled to the correct depth based on the amount of line off the rod on Lake Erie. Crankbaits in the strike zone = more fish(walleye) in the boat! Fantastic product for precision trolling!

Rated 1 out of 5 by JustinJD from Doesn't work, plain and simple. Bought it primarily as an inexpensive and quick way to check depths when ice fishing. I've tried it with 2lb - 6lb mono, 15lb - 35lb braided, and 50lb tip-up line, and not once did it work accurately. Thought about modifying the wheel to make it "stickier", but I'd rather have my money back to invest in something worthwhile. I'm going to research reels with built-in counters and see if they're at least half-way accurate.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Donotbuythis from Worked one time, now never consistent Worked one time, now fails to work consistently no matter what line I use or placement rod. Better off buying a reel with a built in counter. Makes me want to avoid other Berkley products.

Rated 3 out of 5 by HerbinPDX from Works well with mono, but... I found the line counter works well with mono, but the little lever at the top of the unit, the one that engages and disengages the traction wheel keeps falling off. After a few trips on the water, we lost the lever altogether. It pulls straight out, so glue yours in before you loose it.
