Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Rod at a reasonable price!!! I have been using Berkley Cherrywood Rods about 3 years and catch a lot of Redfish in the 5 to 20 pound range and love the action and quality!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Capable and Durable Even though this is a very economically priced, lightweight rod, it is very capable of delivering great performance. I base my high rating on pure experience, as I hooked and successfully landed a heavy fish with one that I own. To be exact, I landed a 20 pound-plus bull red on the Cherrywood light action rod that I use strictly for panfishing--on 6 pound test line that is. I was using a small Aberdeen wire hook and a fingernail-sized piece of shrimp while fishing for bluegills on one of the local lakes here in San Antonio. There were quite a few people watching and witnessed this feat, too. It took me over 20 minutes to land the fish but this little rod held its own--and I'm still using it today. Like any other fishing rod, it is not what you do with it; it is all about knowing its limitations and knowing how to use. No, Cherrywood rods aren't designed for heavy weigh fishing but I am living proof that they are fully capable and highly durable. Great little rods--as long as the user understands how to use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this rod Been fishing the 6'0 mh 1 piece for 8 years use 8lb mono and use it for Texas rig. I don't throw into super thick weeds because I don't live in Florida and hate that type of fishing. Live norther suburbs of Chicago kill it. I catch 5lb bass and 3-4lb channel cat and love the back bone of the pole.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst rod I've ever owned. I bought this rod and 2 days later I broke it. I got a few hours of fishing out of it before I hooked about a 12 inch pike and near the rod tip the pole snapped. It only cost me $20 but you would think I would at least be able to catch barely legal pike on it. Terrible product. Do not buy if you are smart and want to catch fish.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good action poor performance Bought this rod in 2014 used it for six months, seemed to perform well enough. This spring gave it to my 13 y.o. for trout. One hour into the day he comes to me with the two piece rod in three pieces. Broke off about 8 inches from tip. Bought another the next day, assuming that the kid did something to cause the breakage. Took it out fishing and 4 hours into the day, the new rod snaps in the same place. Must be some sort of defect. Shame really as the rod is nice when its not snapping.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy, poor rod, poor service I bought this rod for my husband and to his surprise the rod broke on a small 1lb fish after only a couple uses. Contacted Berkley for warranty claim and they wanted a $9.95 fee to replace it. Only paid $22 for the rod, not adding another 10 to it. Will move on from Berkley products

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Replacement for Lightning Rod I had to replace my Berkley ultra light Lightning rod after breaking it. The Cherrywood HD was the closest rod that I could find to my 15 year old Lightning rod. It is a bit stiffer than my old rod and can cast really light weights a bit farther which is nice when I'm using a single bb split shot. So far I have used it three times and caught 2-3 trout each time. The action is very nice and it has good sensitivity. Since it does not have as much bend to it as my old Lightning rod I am careful when I get snagged and do not use as much force trying to free it since the tip is very thin. I have learned that you can break the tip doing this as I did with my Mitchell Zero Gravity rod years ago. So far I am very satisfied. It is a very good value.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Snap Have had 2 of these in the last 6 months both broke. Warranty is useless since you have to send a money order to replace a 25.00 dollar rod.
