Gulp! Alive!® Shrimp is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 64.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bait tears and rips too easily. A few years ago I used Gulp Alive Shrimp as my go to bait. Could not remember why I stopped. So, I purchased a pint and put it to the test yesterday. Sure enough it does attract the fish. However, the bait is very soft and gets shredded with just one catch. And, it is easy for pinfish or bait fish to chop it up so the shrimp never makes it to the target species. Years ago it was capable of more abuse but it was made softer....then I remembered that's why I stopped using them. As for the claim of attracting fish...that's not in question. If you don't mind losing one per fish....them fish on.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Have they changed the chemistry of the Gulp? Have enjoyed the New Penny, Moultin, and Pearl White 3inch Gulp for over 10 years. Unfortunately, the last two containers I've bought from Walmart have been horrible. The bait is too soft now and just rips right off the jig-head. I'm not sure if this is now done on purpose or not? Before, I could fish for while with one Gulp on my jig-head but now the fish just rip it right off as soon as it gets in the water. These baits are too expensive to have this happen. Until they resolve this too soft issue, I will discontinue to use the Gulp. For 10 years I've recommended this bait to everybody I fish with. But for now that will not happen!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Change in design? I've bought these gulp alive shrimps for years now, and recently, and they've very effective. It's probably because of the juice they come in. Unfortuneately, it seems like the shrimps are a lot more fragile. They rip apart on the jig head after a couple of casts or snags in seaweed. I don't know if Berkley intentionally did this so that customers would go through these lures a lot faster and be forced to buy more, or if they cut corners somewhere to result in an inferior plastic. I want the old, stronger shrimps back!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Crappy, soft, lost bait with every hit I've been using 3" Molting shrimp for a long time and always caught lots of fish with them. I couldn't find molting shrimp at my local fishing haunt so I decided to try the New Penny. Bait came off of my jig with every hit. This is ridiculous. I fish a jig with an artificial so I can keep casting, not re-baiting like I'm using live shrimp. I've read on other sites that other fishermen have noticed the change in the design, being too soft. Since New Penny's design is physically different than Molting, I'm going to give Molting another try. If it rips apart like New Penny, I'm off Gulp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gulp I have been guiding out of Apalachee Bay FL for 20 years. I started using the Gulp when they first came out and 99 per cent of the time when I use grubs it's the 3 inch pearl white or new penny. There is not a fish that swims in our waters that I have not caught on a Gulp, either under a Cajun Thunder or just fishing with a Gulp and 1/4 or 1/8 th lead head. If it swims in saltwater it will bite a Gulp. Capt. Jody Campbell

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Gulp Alive Great lure but texture has been changed to be really soft. This causes problems because small trash fish can cut them in half easily. I use three times as many as before. I'm looking for something different.
