Rated 1 out of 5 by Larry from old is better than new When I first started using Gulp jerk shad years ago it was much better than the current version. The original came in a plastic bag with a zip lock type seal and it was very soft. The newer version comes in a plastic tub with liquid in it which I must admit keeps the Gulp. However; this new version is so hard it is almost impossible to get a hook through it and rig it properly and I do not think it has the same action in the water. I am going to give up on Gulp jerk shad even though it was my go to bait for many years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Last cast Ron from Catching machines! I'm an outdoor writer; fishing (catching!) is more than a passion to me it's my business! The striper is king among my home waters of Greater Boston and the 7" Gulp Jefk Shad is a ticket into its kingdom! Soft jerk baits should be a part of any striper sharpies arsenal but the Jerk Shad is different from plastics. Not only for its scent but the proprietary way the Gulp material moves, especially in current. Real prey fish track straight and true and don't bend in moving water las do typical soft plastics and the Gulp JS most closely simulates that movement making it a premier fish fooler!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Brdemkr from Gets the fish to bite I really like these shad for fishing striped bass on the Chesapeake Bay. I have out fished partners about 10:6 when they are using straight plastics of similar color and size. These baits seem to get fish to bite when everything else just swims by them. They will forever be a permanent staple on my tackle box. My only complaint about them is they are not very durable where they connect to a jig head. The body rips easily if the bait holder of the jig head is too large. I suggest trimming the bait holder before using these lures. Super gluing the lure to the jig head also helps. Packaging also needs to be improved as it's almost impossible to reseal the plastic bags. The jars as a little better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Roccus Hunter from Best striped bass lure ever I have been fishing for Striped Bass for over 40 years now and nothing works as well as the 7" Berkely Gulp Alive Jerk Shad. Texas rigged, put it on a jighead and bounce them off the bottom, whatever,I have outfished other guys 10 to 1. Berkley now needs to make them in 9 or 10" long. These are the only lures I use now,no need to carry anything else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ranger681T from Smallmouth bass love it This is the best smallmouth bass bait I have in my extensive tackle Arsenal. Rigged on a drop shot or weightless, big smallmouth just can't resist. Rig with a off-set worm hook and the jerk shad will stay on your line for several fish. Great match to Great Lake smelt in early spring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Hammer79 from Love the neon pepper Chartreuse sand eels used to be my go to bait for back bay flounder fishing. Since it is no longer made I switched to neon pepper and it is almost as good. The action is close but not as good as the sand eel was. Still a great product with great results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by markbob from Awesome S/W bass lure The saltwater bass were all over this lure in this color. Tried it side-by-side with zoom flukes, and this out-fished it 2 to 1. Bought as many as I could to stock up, should be set for a few years.
