Gulp! Alive! Shrimp is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 70.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Have they changed the chemistry of the Gulp? Have enjoyed the New Penny, Moultin, and Pearl White 3inch Gulp for over 10 years. Unfortunately, the last two containers I've bought from Walmart have been horrible. The bait is too soft now and just rips right off the jig-head. I'm not sure if this is now done on purpose or not? Before, I could fish for while with one Gulp on my jig-head but now the fish just rip it right off as soon as it gets in the water. These baits are too expensive to have this happen. Until they resolve this too soft issue, I will discontinue to use the Gulp. For 10 years I've recommended this bait to everybody I fish with. But for now that will not happen!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bait tears and rips too easily. A few years ago I used Gulp Alive Shrimp as my go to bait. Could not remember why I stopped. So, I purchased a pint and put it to the test yesterday. Sure enough it does attract the fish. However, the bait is very soft and gets shredded with just one catch. And, it is easy for pinfish or bait fish to chop it up so the shrimp never makes it to the target species. Years ago it was capable of more abuse but it was made softer....then I remembered that's why I stopped using them. As for the claim of attracting fish...that's not in question. If you don't mind losing one per fish....them fish on.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Change in formula? Original gulps were great 5 stars all day and they would keep up with live bait. Saturday i took a gulp shrimp bucket flounder fishing and they are super soft and squishy. I've never went through more gulps in my life than saturday. these new gulps have no durability. Normally the flounder would eventually shread the bait up where i needed to replace but this time every fish or ever few bites i was changing the bait. Seems like a shady gimic to get fisherman to buy more but not me.. I'll buy a competitors baits which is far superior in durability before using these again. thank goodness i bought these during a rebate otherwise i'd be hot!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Change in design? I've bought these gulp alive shrimps for years now, and recently, and they've very effective. It's probably because of the juice they come in. Unfortuneately, it seems like the shrimps are a lot more fragile. They rip apart on the jig head after a couple of casts or snags in seaweed. I don't know if Berkley intentionally did this so that customers would go through these lures a lot faster and be forced to buy more, or if they cut corners somewhere to result in an inferior plastic. I want the old, stronger shrimps back!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great bait but they have Quality control issues Normally, Gulp baits work great! I can't even begin to tell you about all of the fish I have caught on them. Snook, redfish, trout, flounder, sharks, snapper, etc, etc. Gulp baits have saved the day out on the flats by me many times. They are perfect for when I have kids on the boat because they attract a variety of fish and they keep the kids busy and happy all day with minimal mess and minimal instruction. Unfortunately, in the last year, I started to get bins (at $19.99 each) of baits that were so rock hard that I couldn't get them on a jig head. Then I started getting bins of baits there were so soft they would tear while trying to get them onto a jig head and even if I did, a peck from a pinfish would either take it off or tear it up so badly they were useless. I tried a few times (and again today) to contact Berkley-Fishing but haven't had much luck. The "Contact Us" on this website limits you to 500 characters so it is basically useless and they haven't answered me anyway. I am seriously disappointed and will not waste amy more of my money on Gulp until they can assure me that I will be getting a bait that I can actually use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Catches everything.... Just came back from fishing the flats at Steinhatchee, Fl. Fished the 4" Gulp shrimp in pearl/chartreuse.... caught over 100 trout, some reds to 23", mackerel and a bluefish. We fish a Cajun Thunder orange popper with 24" more or less of 20# Seaguar fluro and a 1/8 oz, 4/0 Owner hook pink jig... once a trout gets it in its mouth, it is hooked! It just doesn't get any better for fishing on the grass flats. I have had very good success with this Gulp on just a 1/4 oz jig for flounder. Hard to keep the ladyfish and lizard fish off the hook, and puffers are death on a Gulp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gulp I have been guiding out of Apalachee Bay FL for 20 years. I started using the Gulp when they first came out and 99 per cent of the time when I use grubs it's the 3 inch pearl white or new penny. There is not a fish that swims in our waters that I have not caught on a Gulp, either under a Cajun Thunder or just fishing with a Gulp and 1/4 or 1/8 th lead head. If it swims in saltwater it will bite a Gulp. Capt. Jody Campbell
