Rated 1 out of 5 by Anton H from Unstable under load. I purchased a pair of these along with another brand. They should take these and ship them to the deepest part of the sea. Constantly had to watch them slip while trolling. They wanted to pull out or not hold the a tilted position. No matter how hard I tighten down I watched it slip after a couple a minutes in 1ft seas. Finally all of a sudden I heard my partner yell and it completely lifted out of it's position and off went the entire portion holding the rod. Seems these are good for not trolling with Dipsy Divers. I order a set of replacement ones that I had on the other side. The plastic used is not very hard and tends to allow it not to hold it's position under some medium to heavy load. .

Rated 4 out of 5 by Morganorn from Works well. A little short Came an a boat I recently bought. Holds rods well. Needs an extension to stick up higher. Mounted on flat surface leaves limited rod movement up and down. Scotty and Atwood have extensions. Would like to see Berkley make some too

Rated 1 out of 5 by Canoe Man from Rod holder base I bought a cpl of these from Gander Mountain last wkd and the vertical base is too short. Wont get over the boat rail. Requires an extension but Berkley doesn't offer one. Its a shame because its well made just impractical. Returning them to Gander Mountain.

Rated 1 out of 5 by nickbru from The plastic wears too easily I bought some Berkley rod holders about 6 months ago. The plastic used where the rod holder fits into the mount is weak and wears and it is now not unusable. The design is ok but the materials don't stan up to constant use.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Lukey from Only good for bottom fishing Mounted one of these to the gunwale of my jet ski for easy access to my rod when trolling. The teeth which secure the holder in position rounded off in the first 5 minutes. I can only assume that this product is only designed for bottom fishing where the load is straight down. Wish I'd have known this before wasting my money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by richcanoe from Long lasting I've been using them on my kayaks for 10 years. Originally bought them because they were so much less expensive than other brands. Have held up well and have never failed to hold the rod. I agree that the mounts could be a little longer, but in a kayak they work fine. Rod is easy to get into and out of the holder.
