"Punta Gorda, FL – On Sunday, June 13, Berkley Pro Staffer, Captain Artie Price and team "Miller's Ale House", locked up the "Team of The Year" title at the 2010 Professional Tarpon Tournament Series. Price's team also took the title in 2009, 2007, 2006, and 2005. Other members of the winning team included Greg DeVault, Jon Turner, and Frank Massaro.
According to Price, one of the absolute keys to the team's success this year and in prior year's tournaments was the line and baits they put their trust into – Berkley Vanish 40lb or 50lb Fluorocarbon tied to Berkley Vanish 100lb Fluorocarbon leader and Berkley PowerBait. Commenting further, Price went on to add that when it comes to fishing for big tarpon in the Punta Gorda Pass, "There is absolutely no substitute for the Berkley Vanish Fluorocarbon". "Berkley Vanish Fluorocarbon is the most invisible and strongest fluorocarbon on the planet".
Also very instrumental in the win, were the baits the team was using. According to Price, "The PowerBait 3"and 4" Ripple Shads (Firetiger, New Penny), and the PowerBait 4" Chigger Craw (Cinnamon Purple Fleck) were what we used to catch most of our tarpon".
The points based tournament is conducted in and around the Boca Grande, FL Pass during the weekends and over five week span in May and June. The Professional Tarpon Tournament Series is the largest tarpon fishing tournament in the world and is broadcast worldwide as thirteen week series.
For the win, the team picks up a Skeeter ZX22Bay boat, powered by a Yamaha250 V Max SHO, loaded with Humminbird 997cSI and 1010ln Minn Kota Trolling Motor, and a Skeeter Aluminum Trailer – Value of $62,000.00. "
